Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all genres of dance.  At Allegro Dance, we believe quality Ballet training makes every type of dancer stronger.  The American Ballet Theatre method of Ballet is taught in all of our classes.  This Ballet technique combines artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development.  ABT's method embraces sound principles and incorporates elements of the French, Italian and Russian schools of training.  All of our Ballet classes are taught by director Jenn Montie.  Jenn's background in STOTT Pilates and her certification in levels Pre-Primary-Level 3 of the American Ballet Theatre method make her classes safe and technical.

Ballet training at Allegro Dance starts at the age of 4 in our Petite Ballet 1 classes.  Proper technique and Ballet terminology is introduced in this 30 minute class for 4-6 year olds.

For 5-7 year olds, we offer 45 minute Petite Ballet 2 classes. Progress reports are given out in January to share student strengths, areas where the student can improve, and recommendations on class placement moving forward. These reports are given in a positive manner and are intended to guide and provide support to your young dancer.

At the age of 7, we begin offering separate recreational and pre-professional Ballet classes. For those dancers that exhibit interest in more serious Ballet training, placement into our pre-professional Ballet classes is an option. For more information on these classes, please see our "Pre-Professional Ballet Division" page.  To schedule a placement class, please call us at 248.808.7274.
